A terrible blurry photo of a fantastic event! Ruby Wax performs ‘Out of her Mind’: a powerful, painful and hilarious piece of comedy about metal illness.
This event was attended by Dr Emily Falconer (the terrible photograph culprit…) and Chair of the FWSA Dr Kate Sang as part of the wider Women of the World Festival (WOW) 2013 at London’s South Bank Centre on 6-10th March 2013, marking International Women’s Day. The event is now in its third yea, and hosts a plethora of feminist public figures, celebrities, politicians, writers, musicians, comedians, journalists, academics and artists to represent the celebrations and challenges still facing women. Participants were invited to attend reflective discussions on black women in popular culture, rape, global feminism, what it means not to have children and feminist men, alongside live music and children’s workshops. WOW attracted well known names such as Alice Walker, Jenni Murray, Naomi Wolf, Gordon and Sarah Brown and Angelique Soueif, and generated vibrant energy and collective discussion from a diverse range of women attendees. Looking forward to next year already!
