Bristol’s What The Frock! Comedy returns to its sparkly central venue (The Mauretania, 9 Park Street, Bristol) on Friday, January 17. When What The Frock! will welcome local talent Cerys Nelmes as the new resident compere… while Jayde Adams is off on her travels for six months.
A hugely popular circuit comedian with years of experience under her belt, Cerys has a thoroughly eclectic CV… one that also includes firefighter: she was only the second ever female firefighter in Wooton-under-Edge!
Completing the bill alongside Cerys will be… award-winning comedian Rachel Parris (“one sometimes doubts that Britain’s got talent, but Parris has it in spades”, The Guardian); Cecilia Delatori (“a comedian of great calibre,” The Stage); and Katie Lane (Funny Women runner-up 2013).
Cerys Nelmes said: “I’m so excited to be taking over as resident MC at What The Frock! for the next five months. It’s my home turf, the audience is always fabulous and the calibre of acts – who come from all over the UK – is always amazing. I’m so proud to be part of such a great night out!”
Founder Jane Duffus said: “Wow, 2013 was a fantastic year for What The Frock! We’ve grown phenomenally and have lots of grand ideas for 2014. Some people still have daft ideas that female comedians don’t exist, but we’re going to keep proving those people wrong. We’re delighted to see an ever-growing number of men in our audiences, too. Bring on 2014!”
