Following a spectacular sold-out show in January, all-female comedy night What The Frock! is returning to its regular home at The Mauretania, 9 Park Street, Bristol on February 21 for more comedy gold with four of the circuit’s finest female comedians.
January’s show sold out well in advance with comedy fans queuing up Park Street in the hopes of nabbing a ticket… so What The Frock! looks forward to welcoming comedy fans back to the Mauretania on February 21, when we have the inimitable Suzy Bennett headlining – (“exceptionally talented” beamed Broadway Baby following Suzy’s sell-out Edinburgh Fringe show).
We will also be welcoming local talent Cerys Nelmes back as our MC – and hoping her head will fit through the door after she was recently filmed by ITV for a forthcoming piece about What The Frock! Also on the bill are Helen Keeler and Sandi Smith, promising a line-up packed to the brim with talent.
Tickets are £10 advance, £12 door . Purchase them here
Cerys Nelmes is a What The Frock! regular, and is filling in brilliantly as our resident MC while Jayde Adams is touring overseas. Wooton-under-Edge’s Cerys is doing such a great job that after the January show, several regulars got in touch to say: “Jayde had better watch out!”
Headliner Suzy Bennett is a dynamo of a comic with a uniquely warm and chatty stage presence. Suzy has been selling out shows since 2006 and toured with Jimmy Carr during 2007.
Also on the bill is Helen Keeler: who stormed the finals of the Funny’s Funny awards in 2011 and is constantly in demand on the circuit. We also welcome another West Country comedian Sandi Smith, of whom Patrick Monaghan said: “See her now before you have to wait for returns to her sell-out shows.”
- What The Frock! Comedy is the ONLY regular all-female comedy night in the South West, and has notched up 23 packed-out shows in Bristol, London, Manchester and Exeter since launching in May 2012. What The Frock! aims to increase the profile of talented female comedians.
- Typically, only four in every 48 comedians booked for live comedy in the UK is female*, which does not reflect the number of enormously talented women on the comedy circuit. This is why What The Frock! Comedy exists. (*Figure correct as of September 28, 2012)
- What The Frock! Comedy is a small, independent business based in Bristol. It was founded by journalist Jane Duffus, who runs it with the help of a small number of dedicated volunteers. What The Frock! Comedy has been shortlisted for a number of national and local business and events awards since launching. Please visit the website for more details: whatthefrockcomedy.co.uk
