“WRITING WOMEN’S LIVES”

Proposals are invited from researchers (including those engaged in postgraduate study) for papers and provocations to be presented at this interdisciplinary one-day event, on the subject of Writing Women’s Lives.
This colloquium is an opportunity for all those engaged or interested in this area of study to hear about and present current and ongoing research, further understanding of the field, and help develop links between researchers across institutions. It may interest those from the following disciplines: History, Heritage, English Literature, Cultural Studies, Creative Writing, Education, Publishing, Media, Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Film and Theatre Studies, although scholars from any discipline are welcome to submit proposals which could include but are not limited to the following topics:
- How women’s lives have been represented historically.
- Women’s engagement in public and domestic spaces.
- Dealing with gaps in representation.
- Public women, private lives.
- Marginalia and marginalisation.
- Women and religion.
- Defining Life Writing.
- Women and The Canon.
- The publishing industry and female writers.
- Feminist discourses and cultural dynamics.
- The concept of the ‘victim’ in cultural representation.
- Women and education.
- Women as publishers.
Please send a 300 word abstract outlining your presentation, including technological requirements, to firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday February 16th, 2015.
Papers will be a maximum of 20 minutes in length; all other types of proposal will be considered on their individual merit and suitability for the colloquium. All submissions will be reviewed, and delegates will be contacted by March 9th 2015. Please include your name, institutional affiliation and department, email address, and your status (MA/PhD researcher, or job title).
