Institutional membership
The FWSA has recently relaunched its institutional membership for departments and research centres. The annual institutional membership package offers the following benefits.
Access to our support and funding:
- Up to two paid staff / student places at the FWSA’s interim or biennial conference (up to a value of £100);
- 1 entry per year into each of our prizes and grant competitions: Student Essay Competition; Small Grants Scheme; FWSA Book Prize; Ailsa McKay Travel Grant;
- The opportunity to bid to host our biennial conference;
- The opportunity for the appointed contact to be elected onto the Executive committee of the FWSA.
Profiling your department:
- The opportunity to work closely with the FWSA to promote the work of your centre. An appointed contact will have access to and use of our extensive distribution and discussion email list. This is an excellent way to circulate information about events, CFPs, jobs, scholarships, and other opportunities to a larger feminist / women’s / gender studies audience;
- FWSA print publicity materials to display in departments and at events, and the FWSA logo to display on your website.
Working with us on Higher Education policy and related issues:
- The opportunity to contribute to the FWSA’s actions on issues impacting Higher Education (recent examples include our response to the HEFCE consultation on the REF);
- Enhancing your department/centre’s work towards equality and diversity, for example by profiling your institutional membership as part of your Athena SWAN submission.
Membership rates
Due to the increased financial pressures on the FWSA, from the 1st January 2016, the membership rates have been amended. This is the first time in over five years that the FWSA has updated its membership fees, and this change has been undertaken in conjunction with the rising membership costs across other academic associations. While there has not been a standardised rise across the membership categories, the rates have been adjusted in accordance with careful consideration of income salaries.
